Tiger tragics turned out in droves, determined to get their paws on the 2019 Premiership Cup during a visit through Cardinia.

The yellow and black army arrived hours before doors opened at the Officer Community Hub on 17 December, with many still celebrating their beloved Richmond Football Club’s demolition of the GWS Giants in the Grand Final.

Cardinia Shire Council has a strong partnership with the Richmond Football Club through their 100 percent owned subsidiary Aligned Leisure, which partners with council to manage Cardinia Leisure facilities.

Council’s leisure facilities and active reserves team leader Michael Casey said Cardinia residents were “pretty lucky” to be able to have this opportunity.

“This is an opportunity for all of the Richmond fans in Cardinia to come get a picture, grab onto the handle and take in the atmosphere with other fans and just enjoy their success,” Mr Casey said.

“It’s great that we’re in a bit of a privileged position where we do have a strong partnership and they love bringing the club and the cup out to Cardinia.”

But the visit wasn’t strictly limited to those living in Cardinia, with some diehard fans travelling from as far as Kew and Korumburra for the photo opportunity.
