With one goal in mind, fitness fanatics descended on Beaconsfield’s NewFit Personal Training for a mass boot camp charity session.

All money raised from the Bushfire Appeal Fundraiser on Saturday 11 January will be directed to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal.

NewFit owner Michelle Newman held the event as a “fun way” to raise much needed financial support to assist in the devastation caused by Australia’s current bushfire crisis.

“It’s my bit to help, to do the best I can to help others who are less fortunate than I am at the moment,” she said.

“People were very generous, we had a really successful day where everyone banded together and got the job done.”

With Gembrook MP Brad Battin swapping the suit for sneakers, he officially opened the session and then joined participants in the boot camp.“I think having Brad as our opening speaker was really motivating because he gave a real insight into just how terrifying these bushfires are.

“As I welcomed the marathon teams to the Bushfire Appeal Fundraiser I reminded them of the bravery of our firefighters putting their lives on the line to help save our country,” Mrs Newman said.

“When we feel like we are battling, think about how much worse it could be for those current families who are in crisis without a home and some without families right now.”

So far, more than $2000 had been raised from the event, with some donations still to come.
