Three determined siblings have warmed the hearts of the Kooweerup community with a homemade lemonade stand to raise money for the bushfire relief effort.

Kayla (9), Chelsea (7) and Rylan (5), raised $215 after spending more than two hours selling fresh lemonade in front of Kooweerup Woolworths during the school holidays.

“The reason why we did the fundraiser was because we watched some of the fire videos and saw that a lot of the wildlife was getting hurt along with some of the firefighters and a lot of houses were getting damaged,” Kayla said.

“We are all so thankful for the brave firefighters risking their lives to save our country.”

Chelsea said she felt “really happy because we raised lots of money”.

“I feel sad for people that don’t have a home and some people lost their animals and pets,” Chelsea said.

“Thank you to everyone who has donated some money for the bushfires.”

Five-year-old Rylan added, “I want the firefighters to have the money so they can have a drink of water and want to help pay for the medicine for the wildlife.”

The children’s mum Renee Brinkley said the money will be distributed to either a local fire station or Bayles Wildlife.
