Lang Lang’s answer to the Royal Melbourne Show continues to be met with a positive response, as more than 1000 patrons turned out to the Lang Lang Showgrounds for this year’s event.

Held on Saturday 18 January, the historical Lang Lang Show, which began in 1901, continues to provide the perfect opportunity for the community to celebrate all things agriculture.

From craft, cooking and photography in the pavilion to horses, cattle and sheep in the shed, the show strives to host something for everyone.

While crowd numbers on the day are yet to be confirmed, organisers remain confident about 1000 to 1200 people turned out.

Lang Lang Pastoral Agricultural and Horticultural Association secretary Cheryl Berry said Victoria’s unpredictable weather was favourable for the day.

“It was a great event, we had a terrific day,” Ms Berry said.

“The weather was great. It could’ve been a lot worse considering this time of the year.”

Ms Berry said it was hard to pinpoint a highlight of the day but said it was a good opportunity for the local community to get out and amongst the action.

“This is the local level where people can compete, and quite a few people have ended up at the Royal Melbourne Show for one reason or another,” she said.

“Our terrific horse show received entrants from the other side of the town, and our dog show saw about 500 entries.

“Our Beef Cattle spectacular and our relatively new sheep stud show were also great events.”

Ms Berry added that the success of the day relied on a dedicated team of volunteers.“Without all the volunteers, and there are many that come together on show day, we couldn’t run the show,” she said.

“They are worth their weight in gold – from the stewards, judges, parking people and those on the gate.

“In the lead up, there’s a lot of work to do and we have a very dedicated team to help us out.”

The Lang Lang Pastoral Agricultural and Horticultural Association will now begin planning the Lang Lang Rodeo which will be held on Monday 13 April.
