A school crossing supervisor forms an integral part of a child’s schooling life – and a competition to crown the best crossing man or woman is currently underway.

School Crossings Victoria’s biennial award, which was established in 2010, aims to acknowledge the contribution and spirit of the work undertaken by school crossing supervisors to maintain and provide a safe and enjoyable journey to and from schools.

Across Cardinia, lollipop ladies and men are based outside schools in Pakenham, Officer, Beaconsfield, Beaconsfield Upper, Cardinia, Kooweerup, Nar Nar Goon, Tynong, Garfield, Bunyip, Lang Lang, Gembrook and Cockatoo.

According to Cardinia Shire Council, the dedicated supervisors generally work two 45-minute shifts on weekdays in all weather conditions.

The award is open to all crossing supervisors across the state but the recipient of the award should model enthusiasm and successful outcomes in a friendly and professional manner.

To vote for your favourite supervisor, visit www.schoolcrossingsvictoria.com.au/ before applications close on Friday 8 May.
