A man wanted by police following a pursuit through Pakenham is yet to be located.

An allegedly stolen Toyota Corolla was being monitored by police as it travelled towards the Pakenham area on Monday morning, 6 April.

It’s understood the wanted vehicle was first spotted travelling on John Edgcumbe Way in Endeavour Hills, just after 9am.

Officers attempted to intercept the car with stop sticks, however the vehicle refused to stop.

Witness Carlo, surname withheld, told the Gazette he was driving home from Bunnings on the Princes Highway when he saw a car “come flying up behind and around” him.

“I saw a car fly around and make a turn off as I was heading down passed the police station,” Carlo explained.

“After that I came up to what looked like a spike strip which was then getting rolled back in as I slowed down because i didn’t know what was going on at the time.

“Then down at the train crossing another two cars came back up behind me weaving through the traffic where the works were being done.”

A Victoria Police spokesman confirmed that the vehicle was found dumped in a supermarket car park on John Street in Pakenham.

“Police conducted a search of the area for the male driver however he is yet to be located,” the spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, reports of the man having a gun have been quashed by police.

It’s also understood that chopper sightings in the area weren’t in relation to this particular incident.

MORE TO COME.
