A talented hobby artist is attempting to bust the isolation boredom by providing a free daily cartoon masterclass to kids via Facebook.

Gembrook man Cal Osborne told the Gazette he’s been doing cartooning since he was a kid, noting that he’d always enjoyed the art form.

“I ran cartooning classes for kids years ago in Pakenham,” he explained.

“When I heard all the kids are bored on lockdown, I thought it’d be a good way to help keep kids entertained.”

From drawing Star Wars characters and superheroes to Australian animals and unicorns or horses, Mr Osborne has been live streaming from 12.30pm daily to anyone and everyone who is interesting in taking up the craft.

Between 10 to 30 people usually join in on the live stream but a number of people tune in later, as all lessons remain online and can be accessed at anytime.

“It’s just lots of fun,” he explained.

“Things are pretty strange at the moment and it’s something fun for kids to focus their energy on.”

Mr Osborne said he’s considering changing the time of the live streams once the school holidays are over and Term 2 remote learning begins from home.
