A young boy was airlifted to the Royal Children’s Hospital following a frightening collision with a van in Officer.

Paramedics were called to Peridot Avenue, near Club Officer, on Monday 29 June, just before 4pm.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman told the Gazette that the 10-year-old boy was riding a push bike when he collided with the side of a van.

The driver of the van is understood to have stopped and rendered first aid at the scene.

The air ambulance was dispatched and landed on the oval of Bridgewood Primary School, as paramedics worked on the boy nearby.

An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman confirmed the primary school aged child was in a serious but stable condition.

The primary school aged child had sustained non-life threatening upper body injuries as a result of the collision.
