The Department of Health recorded zero active cases of Covid-19 in the Cardinia Shire on Wednesday 1 July.

According to daily data released by DHHS, all recently reported active Covid-19 cases in the shire have now recovered.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 22 people have recovered from Covid-19 in Cardinia Shire.

As of Tuesday 30 June, around 600 tests had been conducted at Pakenham’s IYU Reserve.

Member for Bass Jordan Crugnale said although Cardinia’s case numbers were promising, it wasn’t a time for locals to become complacent.

“The latest case numbers show really good progress in Pakenham but the broader reported numbers show that now more than ever we need to keep our focus, not slack off, tell everyone we know to keep up the good hygiene, maintain distance and get tested,” she said.

Currently, the City of Casey has 21 active Covid-19 cases – in total it has had 110 cases.

The City of Casey is in the top five regions across the state with the most cases.

“There is no excuse for not getting tested. We have people knocking on your door, coming to your neighbourhood – we are bringing the testing to you. There are also several drive-through and fixed sites where people can go,” Victoria’s Chief Health Officer Professor Brett Sutton said.

“And no matter where you live, it remains critical to practice good hygiene in and outside the home – wash your hands regularly, cough and sneeze into a tissue or your elbow and try to avoid touching your face.

“Stay 1.5 metres away from anyone you don’t live with and avoid crowds, especially indoors. If you can keep working from home – you must keep working from home.”
