Business is booming at Battery Zone in Pakenham.

While other businesses suffer a Covid induced downturn, Charlie Carter, the owner and founder of Battery Zone, said the opposite had been true in his experience.

Battery Zone supplies batteries for everything from your watch to your truck and everything in between.

“The business has been growing and growing,” said Charlie.

“The business has grown 29 per cent, which is massive.”

He said car batteries had been particularly popular with people using the extra time on their hands to attend to vehicle care and maintenance. There has also been increased demand for caravan batteries with many mobile home owners checking their vehicles so they are ready to get back on road when travel restrictions lift.

And in the lead up to the school holidays, batteries for camping equipment spiked too.

Confident that his business model is a proven success, Charlie is now embarking on an ambitious franchise program.

He wants to offer other families the chance to work for themselves and own their own Battery Zone franchise.

“It is very exciting. For people who are interested in working for themselves, this is a good little business to get into,” he said.

Battery Zone is offering a turnkey system, whereby the franchisee will be provided with everything to run a business from training and business coaching to Facebook marketing and stock supply. Franchisees will receive 24 hour support from Charlie and his team.

Charlie welcomes expression of interest from all areas of metro Melbourne.

“Once Covid disappears people will be looking to get into a business for themselves. There have been lots of enquires about franchising. At the end of the day, if people want a change, to do something different, then this is a good business.

“I opened my Pakenham store 15 years ago last month and it has done me well. As long as you have a passion and a drive to do it.”

Battery Zone offers a recycling service and free delivery in the Pakenham area for those who can’t make it into the Princes Highway store.
