Steady rise continues in Cardinia

Eight new active cases of Covid-19 have been detected in Cardinia Shire overnight, bringing the total number of active cases to 74.

Cases in the shire continue to steadily increase, with the total ever number of cases reaching 120, as of Saturday 8 August.

According to data from the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) on Saturday, there are currently 349 active cases in Casey, 209 in Greater Dandenong, 136 in Yarra Ranges, six in Baw Baw and four in Bass Coast.

Statewide, 466 new cases of coronavirus were detected overnight, since Friday 7 August, with the total number of cases now at 14,283.

Tragically, 12 more people have died overnight from the virus, including a man in his 30s, two men in their 70s, two men and three women in their 80s and four women in their 90s.

To date, 193 people have died from coronavirus in Victoria.
