By Jessica Anstice

A fire was started on an iconic Puffing Billy Railway bridge during the early hours of Monday 19 October.

Police are investigating the cause of the small fire on Trestle Bridge in Belgrave.

Emergency services were called to the scene about 2am following reports of flames seen on the tracks.

The small fire, burning in leaf litter, self-extinguished and did not cause any damage to the wooden bridge.

An arson chemist examined the scene later that day.
