Police fine woman for ‘non-essential’ travel

A woman has been fined after she was caught travelling from Pakenham to Ballarat for a non-essential reason.

The driver told police she was going to Ararat to visit a friend on Thursday 22 October.

Over the past 24 hours, police issued 22 fines to individuals across the state for breaching the Chief Health Officer directions.

Three people were fined for failing to wear a face covering and 11 were fined at checkpoints.
