Keen shoppers in need of some retail therapy are set to flock to Fountain Gate at midnight, as Kmart reopens its doors from 12.01am.

The large scale Fountain Gate store is one of five stores to open their doors at midnight across metropolitan Melbourne, with all remaining stores to reopen from 8am on Wednesday 28 October.

Kmart Group managing director Ian Bailey said the retail giant was excited to be reopening in line with the Premier’s announcement.

“It’s been a long few months for all Melbournians and with Christmas on the horizon, we are looking forward to welcoming customers back into our stores from Wednesday morning,” he said.

“Kmart and Target will both be re-opening from this time and we’ve put in place a number of measures to ensure the shopping experience is as smooth and safe as possible for our customers, including safety measures, booking times for busy stores and extended trading hours so that customers can shop at quieter times.”

Covid Safety Marshals will be deployed across all stores to ensure measures are being adhered to and that 1.5 metre socially distancing is followed.

Cleaning will be increased in all stores and hygiene stations have been implemented for customers.

Meanwhile, Big W at Pakenham Marketplace won’t reopen until 9am on Wednesday.

Bunnings will begin trading from 6.30am and will stay open until 9pm for the next two weeks.

Spotlight stores in Fountain Gate and Cranbourne are also set to open their doors from midnight with a ‘doorbuster sale’.
