With the last few weeks of school holidays quickly approaching, plenty of activities are still happening across the Baw Baw Shire to keep everyone active and entertained.

Running from 18 to 24 January, young people in municipality are encouraged to get involved in an array of free and low-cost activities in their wider community that cater for diverse interests and skills.

“During the summer school holidays there are lots of great youth activities taking place across Baw Baw Shire – yoga, street games, cycling, art and plenty more,” Baw Baw mayor Danny Goss said.

“Try something different and book in for one of these experiences on your own or with a friend.

“Check out the full program of activities and join in the fun this summer.”

The first event of the week is a lino-cut workshop at the Drouin Library on Monday at 10am, where participants will draw a design, carve it into soft lino and then print their design onto calico fabric to take home.

A beginner yoga session will be held on Tuesday at 4pm at Yoga Life in Warragul.

Perfect for beginners or yogis looking to refresh the basics, the session will cover the fundamental postures, sun salutations, breathing techniques and meditation.

A yin yoga and meditation session will also be on offer at Yoga Life on Thursday at 4pm, to guide participations into a deep state of relaxation to promote calmness and wellbeing.

For those after a more high-intensity workout, an RPM cycling class will be held at the Warragul Leisure Centre on Tuesday at 1pm.

A highlight of the week will be the Return to Sport event at Burke Street Park in Warragul from 1pm to 4pm.

The event will feature a range of family-friendly activities hosted by Spartan Kids, Melbourne Victory, PGA golf, Melbourne Boomers and GippSport’s Baw Baw Streetgames.

Baw Baw Streetgames sessions will also be held throughout the week in Thorpdale, Trafalgar, Yarragon, Drouin, Warragul and Neerim South.

Hosted by Gippsport, Streetgames are a series of free, walk-up supervised activities and games aimed for teens.

All activities will be run in line with Covid-19 requirements for the safety and wellbeing of all participants.

Some activities require bookings in advance, see each event listing for full details.
