Warm woollies are in high demand at local op shops with the start of the winter season fast approaching.

Coats, scarves, beanies and blankets have all been “selling like hotcakes,” at Pakenham’s Brotherhood of St Laurence Op Shop, manager Heather Webb said.

“We’re running out of stock,” she said.

“We’re in need of winter jackets, especially men’s.”

Heather said a small section of men’s casual coats was not keeping up with the demand from the community and they were struggling to sell formal men’s attire such as work suits due to the shift to at home working arrangements.

Op shops rely on community donations and are constantly in need of high quality goods.

“We’re grateful for the support from the Pakenham community,” Heather said.

“If you wouldn’t give them to a friend, don’t give them to us.”

Heather welcomes anyone who wants to stop in for a chat or coffee to visit the op shop.

“We don’t expect people to buy something. People love to call in for a bit of a chat or a laugh,” she said.
