Two men have been taken to hospital following yet another crash along Kooweerup Road this morning, at the notorious intersection of Ballarto Road in Pakenham South.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson confirmed that paramedics had attended the scene of the crash at about 6.20am on Monday 31 May and that two patients had been taken to hospital for treatment.

“Two men in their 20’s were taken to hospital in a stable condition with upper body injuries,” the spokesperson said.

“One man was taken to The Alfred [hospital] and the other was taken to Dandenong Hospital.”

The Pakenham SES Media Officer, Shayne Honey, said that local SES units were called to the scene of the accident about the same time on Monday morning, as there were “reports someone was trapped” in a vehicle.

While on route, Fire Rescue Victoria advised that in fact no one was trapped at the scene, and so the SES unit’s services were no longer required.

It is believed that “a grey hatchback and a ute” were involved in the incident at the Ballarto Road intersection and there are reports that the ute “may have been on its side”.

Mr Honey said that it appeared fire services had cleared the scene of the crash a few hours later, by about 7.50am.

This crash comes just two weeks after the speed limit was reduced along Kooweerup Road from 90km/h to 80km/h, in a bid to reduce the amount of road trauma occurring in the area.

Anyone with information about the crash or dash cam footage should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
