Op shops across the shire have been forced to continually collect dumped donations, despite stores being closed during the lockdown.

Photos reveal donations piling up outside op shop doors despite signage asking that items be held at home until stores reopen.

The Kooweerup Op Shop has been was victim to multiple dumps, which volunteer Sheryl Blay said was disappointing.

“We have people who have eyes out for us and let us know,” Sheryl said.

“With all the rain that is forecast, if someone doesn’t pass by and notice all the items will be ruined and we’ll have to throw it out anyway.

“If people could hold of until we can open up that would be terrific.”

Dumped donations were also spotted outside The Brotherhood of St Laurence Op Shop in Pakenham on Tuesday 20 July.

Sheryl said the problem was happening to op shops across the state.

“I posted the photos on local Facebook pages and the op shop account and the next day we still had more left,” she said.

“It’s just unbelievable the amount of stuff people are leaving.”

Sheryl also wanted to remind people that op shops cannot take car seats and the Kooweerup Op Shop can also not take televisions.
