You might have heard a few dogs howling the other night – and if you looked outside, you might have noticed why.

Local photographer Reg Casey snapped these stunning shots of the moon on Saturday 24 July, which lit up the sky for those lucky enough to witness it’s celestial glow.

These captivating photos were taken the day after the July full moon, also known as the “Buck moon“ or “Thunder moon“, and Reg said that it was so “amazing“ that when he spotted it while driving, he just had to pull over and take a picture.

“I went out to hopefully get [some photos of] a nice sunset or some cool clouds, but I saw the moon coming up behind the trees on Dalmore Road and pulled over,“ he said.

Reg said that the moon seemed “ridiculously big“ as it came up over the house on the horizon, and he believed it may happen again in the near future – and he hoped he’d be there to see it again.

Thanks for sharing Reg!
