Plans for the new church on Denhams Road.

TurningPoint Church is hoping to develop a new place of worship in Kooweerup.

Currently located on a small site on Rossiter Road, TurningPoint Church is awaiting the approval of Cardinia Shire Council to build a two storey warehouse at 116 Denhams Road.

Campus pastor Sean La’Brooy told the Gazette the plan for a new and bigger site had been a long time coming after outgrowing their current site.

“Our current site has been brilliant and a blessing for the eight years we’ve been here but as our youth groups and children’s ministry grows, the building has become cramped very quickly,” he said.

“By having more modern facilities, and more space, we can offer more services and link up to other groups in the town.”

“We also hold a lot of community events like Australia Day and Easter celebrations and we always like to join venture with other groups like the RSL, Men’s Shed, Regional Health Service and CFA.“

Pastor Sean said they were excited to expand their night food pantry service which currently attracts about 40 families across Cardinia Shire.

The proposal for 116 Denhams Road will cater for approximately 80 patrons attending the site Sundays 9am to 1pm, Monday to Friday 10am to 3pm (predominately office use) and Tuesday and Thursday evenings 6pm to 9pm (small gatherings).

29 car spaces are being proposed as part of the advertised planning permit.

The Responsible Authority will not decide on the application before 15 October.
