Rotary Club members have dedicated a memorial at the Lang Lang foreshore to commemorate the passing of loved ones.

The commemorative rock at the entrance to the old jetty was placed so those who have had their ashes scattered at the foreshore can be remembered with a small plaque.

Incoming president Sam Loughridge was inspired by a trip to Marlo with his wife.

The far East Gippsland township had a memorial rock with spots for plaques and Mr Loughridge wanted to do the same in his home town.

“I thought that would be a great idea down here,“ Mr Loughridge said.

The rock was donated from a Tynong quarry and was officially unveiled on Sunday 1 May in front of a small crowd of around 50 people.

A barbecue was held at the unveiling and current president Michael Boraston said a few words.

For those wanting to erect a plaque on the commemorative rock, they can contact the rotary club via email at rckooweeruplanglang@gmail.com.
