REVIEW – ROUND 10

B GRADE

Officer scored a win over Devon Meadows to take a 12-point lead on top of the ladder. The Panthers batted first and despite strong middle-order contributions from Jamie Cape (33) and Mick Floyd (30), could only manage a total of 7/142 as Sean Hinkley (3/49) led the way for the Bullants.

Chathura Imbulagoda (71) was simply superb for Officer in their run chase and led them home with a total of 7/149 in 37 overs.

Catani took care of business against Emerald after restricting the Bombers to 159. Caleb Lobbe (54) was the only Emerald batsman to make significant inroads as Cat Trent Adams (4/46) performed strongly.

In reply, Catani – led by George Zekic (59 not out) and Brad McDonald (36 not out) – chased down the required runs in 36 overs, for the loss of four wickets.

Tooradin’s total of 6/156 wasn’t enough against Cranbourne Meadows. The Seagulls got great production from Owen Johnstone (66) and Adam Jacobs (48 not out), but others fell cheaply.

The Rebels – led by Munish Mahajan (40 not out) – chased down the total with 2.2 overs remaining and three wickets in hand.

Aura Vale scored a strong win over Carlisle Park after defending their total of 7/221. The Lakers were led by a superb knock from Ransi De Silva (90 not out).

In reply, the Vikings struggled mightily and stood at 5/41, before Martin Davies (60) and Dean Lyddy (36 not out) put some respectability on the scoreboard. It wasn’t enough though as Carlisle Park was restricted to 6/163.

C GRADE

Cardinia put on a clinic against Officer to come away with a cruisy win. The Bullants batted first and were unable to find their groove as six Bulls took wickets to restrict Officer to just 7/102.

In reply, Cardinia chased down the required runs in 27 overs with Patrick Nolen (37) leading the way.

Pakenham Upper/Toomuc’s bowlers dominated proceedings to lead their team to a win over Upper Beaconsfield. Yabbies Ben Jarred (3/11) and Jake Abel (3/13) were in fine form as they helped restrict the Maroons to just 99 runs.

Pakenham Upper/Toomuc was in complete control in the run chase as Matt Southall (47 not out) and Mark Johnson (46 not out) led the Yabbies to a total of 2/103.

Clyde was too good for Pakenham, defending their total of 7/175. The Cougars were sent into bat and an unbeaten knock from Nicholas Miles (63 not out) was the highlight, while Duane Lucas (4/35) was in great form for the Lions.

Pakenham’s run chase got off to a strong start, but they lost their final six wickets for just 39 runs to succumb to the Cougars, mustering a total of 148. Scott Webster (49) top-scored for Pakenham, while Nicholas Miles (3/29) backed up his batting performance with a great bowling display.

NNG/Maryknoll demolished Cranbourne Meadows in a ruthless display. The Rebels batted first, but with Dylan Cameron (3/19) on fire, had no answers and fell for just 80 runs as nine batsmen were dismissed for eight runs or less.

In reply, the Marygoons – despite standing at 0/1 in the opening stages – were in total control and ran down Cranbourne Meadows’ total in just 22 overs, for the loss of three wickets, with Harrison Webb (42 not out) leading the way.

D GRADE

Kooweerup was unable to defend its total of 6/144 against the Victorian Vikings. The Demons struggled to maintain partnerships and despite a fighting knock by Jesse Depasquale (49), looked in trouble for most of their innings.

The Vikings on the other hand were in complete control as they chased down the total in 32 overs, for the loss of just two wickets, led by Shashank Sharma (66 not out).

Emerald was a class above Carlisle Park in a dominant display from the Bombers. A half century from Andrew Kapahnke (51) helped the Bombers to a total of 8/202.

In reply, the Vikings (121) faltered as Ethan Crosher (3/20) and Andrew Kapahnke (3/20) – who backed up his brilliant batting display with a fine six overs of bowling – took over.

Lang Lang was no match for Pakenham as the Lions defended their total of 6/181. Pakenham – led by Nicholas Motton (62) – put runs on the board and then restricted Lang Lang to just 9/82 in 30 overs as David Searle (2/8), Jayden Forsyth (2/14) and Marcus Martini (2/18) were efficient and effective.

Merinda Park pulled off a commanding run chase against NNG/Maryknoll. The Marygoons posted a total of 8/175, thanks largely to Shamraiz Medhi (49 not out) and Matt Patten (37), while Scott Kunziak (3/31) bowled well for the Cobras.

In reply, Merinda Park’s openers – Martin Donaldson (61) and Brett Armitage (41) – put on an 89-run stand to kick the innings off in style. With four wickets in hand and four overs remaining, the Cobras chased down the required runs to score a win.

E GRADE

Merinda Park scored a comfortable win over Devon Meadows. The Panthers chose to bat but could only muster 8/143 as Jordan ‘The Pocket’ Bertrand (2/20), Scott Strang (2/21) and Nathan Francis (2/24) bowled strongly for the Cobras.

In reply, Merinda Park, led by Nathan Francis (64), roared home with a total of 4/152 in 25 overs.

Clyde (4/264) was dominant against Tooradin, leading to an easy win for the Cougars. Brett Whittingham (115) led the way for Clyde, while Wes Smith (43) was also impressive.

Tooradin, despite the best efforts of Kaine Bundy (101) – who produced a second consecutive century – was no match in reply, dismissed for 183 in the 34th over. Ryan Adams (3/23) was the pick of Clyde’s bowlers.

Officer got home against Cranbourne Meadows. The Rebels struggled their way to a total of 129 as Aidan Pipicelli (4/29) ran riot. In reply, Officer – led by Lachlan James (43) and Adam Vangeninden (38) – cruised to victory with a total of 5/133 in 35 overs.

Pakenham Upper/Toomuc annihilated Nyora. The Yabbies posted a total of 3/219, off the back of an unbeaten 115-run partnership between Johno Sherer (85 not out) and Chris Vernal (57 not out).

In reply, the Maroons (8/75) were never in the match as Bailey Smith (3/27) bowled well for the Yabbies.

F GRADE

Cardinia demolished Cranbourne Meadows with a stunning bowling display. The Bulls posted a strong total of 9/202, thanks largely to Tony Cianter (50), Ben Warren (41) and Wayne Snooks (40).

The Rebels had a disastrous time with the bat and fell for just 34 runs. Incredibly, only Chris Lowe (13 not out) managed to score over five runs as Wayne Snooks (2/5), Tyler Oates (2/6) and Ray Perkins (2/7) had great spells for Cardinia.

Catani and Merinda Park played out a classic, with the Cobras coming out on top. The Cats batted first, posting a total of 8/164 as Nathan Wade (37) top-scored and Rodney Morrison (3/33) bowled well for Merinda Park.

In reply, the Cobras got home with just two deliveries to spare, posting a total of 5/166. They were led by Gerard Healy (61).

Devon Meadows was too strong for Clyde. The Cougars posted a total of 6/157 with opener Sam Manujith (73) putting together a fine innings, while Neil Baker (4/6) was deadly and efficient in eight overs for the Panthers.

Devon Meadows (2/164) – led by an unbeaten ton to Corey D’Alton (101) – had no troubles chasing down the target.

Pakenham had the bye.
