REVIEW – ROUND 10

Western Park solidified its position on top of the WDCA Division 1 ladder with a comfortable win over Jindivick.

Jindivick won the toss, sent Western Park into bat and a dominant century from Daniel Sheehan (103) had the Jumping Jacks rueing that decision.

Sheehan was simply sublime, belting 11 4s and four 6s in just 82 balls. With Sheehan setting up the innings, Leigh Diston (62) and Zane Harper (41) produced great knocks to see the Warriors post a daunting total of 9/291.

Greg Interlandi (5/50) and Luke Hume (3/45) were in fine form with the ball for Jindivick.

In reply, the Jumping Jacks were never really in the fight as Troy Lehman (3/35) led the Warriors. Hussain Ali (50) stood tall for Jindivick, but they could only muster 170 runs.

In a vital game for both teams, Drouin proved to be too strong for Ellinbank. The Bankers elected to bat and with only three players scoring over 20 runs, it was a struggle. Troy Ferguson (36) top-scored as Ellinbank posted a total of 144, while Trevor Gardiner (3/22) was impressive with the ball.

Drouin was in complete control in their run chase as Jonathan Bell (50), Sam Wyatt (35 not out) and Damon Healy (30) led the Hawks to an eight-wicket win.

In a low-scoring affair, Yarragon defended their total against Hallora. The Panthers were in strife early at 2/4, but a composed half century from Gayan De Silva (50) kept the scoreboard ticking over.

Ashley Causey (3/17) and Grant Duncan (3/21) were dangerous for the Kangaroos.

In reply, with Gamini Kumara (4/21) and Laytten Smith (3/39) running riot, the Panthers took wickets steadily throughout the innings to dismiss the Kangaroos for just 102 runs.

Meanwhile, Neerim District claimed a hard-fought win over Buln Buln at home. Neerim District batted first and with Bailey George (71 not out) dominating proceedings, his team posted a strong total of 8/206. Max Kelly (3/35) was the pick of the Lyrebirds bowlers.

In reply, Buln Buln got off to a tremendous start, courtesy of an incredible 125-run stand between Jack Armour (78) and Corey Jagoe (66), but others failed to fire as Nathan Bayne (3/9) claimed vital wickets down the stretch to restrict the Lyrebirds to 8/197 in 40 overs.
