The Pakenham Warriors’ Big V Division 2 Women’s side continued its winning ways when it registered a 10-point win over Melbourne University on Saturday night at the Melbourne University Sports Centre, 71-61.

In their first season as a collective, Simo Pajdic’s group is through to the grand final – a remarkable achievement.

Though the Warriors weren’t as efficient from the field as they would have liked, they still got the job done against a valiant Black Angels side.

Keeley Patterson was impressive for the Warriors with 21 points, all from beyond the perimeter in an incredible individual display.

But the weekend wasn’t as memorable for the Warriors’ Youth League 2 Men’s side, which went down to the Collingwood All-Stars by five points in heartbreaking fashion, 86-81, at Cardinia Life on Saturday night.

The All-Stars shot a remarkable 65 per cent from two-point range, compared to the Warriors who still went at 51 per cent.

Captain Ned Weideman was again among the best for the Warriors with 14 points and 10 rebounds while Matt Berkec was also handy off from the bench with seven points and 10 rebounds from his 12 minutes on the floor.

Following a very impressive season, the Warriors are now officially eliminated from the finals, with Craigeburn and Collingwood set to face off next.
