REVIEW – ROUND 8|

Finals chasing Cranbourne Meadows has obliterated last-placed Pakenham to the tune of 164 runs in the West Gippsland Cricket Association Sub-District at Lawson Poole Recreation Reserve on Saturday.

The Rebels had the ball flying to all sections of the ground on their way to a mammoth 5/275 off 40 overs.

Munish Mahajan was the catalyst to the big Rebels total.

The opening batsman dictated the terms, carving 129 not out, including nine fours and three sixes.

Karanbir Singh maintained the rage in the Rebels middle order with 83, including 12 fours.

If it was not for a run out, Singh, too, might have brought up triple figures.

It was a tough outing for the Pakenham bowlers, but John Hutchinson could keep his head held high after a return of 3/32.

Pakenham was faced with an almighty task in its chase and did not cope at all.

The Lions were bowled out for just 111 in 34.4 overs.

Openers Sam Webster (31) and Jackson Myers (43) offered their side a little bit of hope with 50 for the first wicket partnership, but it went pear shaped thereafter.

The thorn in the side of the Lions was Cranbourne Meadows new ball operator Geet Dhillon.

Dhillon took an incredible 6/12 off 6.4 overs to wrap up a convincing win for the Rebels.

Lang Lang showed why it is the boss of the jungle after seven rounds, baring its teeth in a 93-run win over Officer at Officer Recreation Reserve.

The Swamp Tigers produced a consistent team batting display to finish with 9/196 off its 40 overs.

Niran Warnakula top-scored for the Swampies with 46, including three fours and two sixes.

Warnakula featured in a 69-run opening stand with Nathan Phillips (34).

Officer had a rough time in its chase, bowled out for 103.

The only rearguard for the Bullants came from Peter Symons (27) and Aidan Pipicelli (25).

Lang Lang shares top spot on the ladder with Tooradin on 78 points.

Tooradin (9/197) enjoyed a hard-fought 27-run victory over Nar Nar Goon/Maryknoll (170) at Tooradin Recreation Reserve.

Kade Burns (50) and Jarred Thompson (45) were the building blocks to the Seagulls victory.
