REVIEW – PREMIER DIVISION (ROUND 8)

Woori Yallock has clinched a potentially season-defining win, defeating Beaconsfield by just one goal, 51-50.

The seventh-placed Tigers are now equal on points with Berwick in fifth, with the Eagles on the other end losing its second place spot as a result of the loss.

Despite the visitors surging out to a dominant 9-15 start, the home clawed back superbly, levelling the scores at the major break 25-25.

The scores were too level at the end of the third period at 39-39 apiece, before the home side found just enough momentum to get the job done in a tense and tight affair.

Mia Sudomirski (33 goals) was all class for the Tigers, while Alana McGurgan and Sarah Hogan were also named in the best for the victors.

For the Eagles, Danielle Cameron, Elizabeth Murphy and Ashleigh Gill were valiant in defeat.

At Edwin Flack Reserve, Berwick edged out Wandin in a vital clash, 52-49.

The Wickers held sway for the majority of the clash, but the Dogs refused to go away, drawing to within one goal at the final change, and battled hard before the home side steadied enough late to clinch the points.

Emily Pupuke (19 goals) was destructive for the Wickers, while Hayley Stewart roamed the court and had a big influence, while Mel Webster was a rock in defense.

In the remaining matches, ladder leaders Olinda Ferny Creek proved too strong for winless Doveton, winning 74-53, while Cranbourne was a class above Pakenham, 46-30. Narre Warren also snared a hefty win, defeating Upwey Tecoma 58-29.

DIVISION 1 (ROUND 9)

ROC is beginning to move away from the pack and into premiership favouritism after knocking off Seville in a top-of-the-table affair, 50-40.

The undefeated Kangaroos clawed back from a four goal deficit at half-time to register a dominant second half performance, scoring 30-16 in that period.

The fightback came from a vintage performance from Keeley Burgmann, who scored 38 goals, while Maddison Chamberlain was impressive.

For the Blues, Clare Papavs, Alexis Tucker and Olivia Ray were named in the best.

The win now sees the Kangaroos move a game clear of the Blues, and Emerald who registered a staggering 92-40 win against Belgrave.

Gembrook Cockatoo also enjoyed a strong weekend, defeating Monbulk 48-39.

The Brookers had a lead at every change, with it blowing out at one point to 13 goals with a quarter to play, but the Hawks fought back to win the final term 12-8.

Chelsea Ingram was dynamic with 29 goals, Lauren Castricum was excellent from wing attack, and Paidle Ladner was important from wing defence.

Tarnee Adams was tireless for the Hawks to bank 25 goals, while Chloe Heppell also enjoyed a strong match.

Mount Evelyn won the final match 55-34 against Healesville.
