Wednesday saw a welcome return to weather conducive for golf, however with the ground still a little soft, scoring was going to be difficult.

A field of 50 players saw Kevin O’Brien a clear standout, winning Division-1 with a score of 38 points. Division 2 was a closer contest with Brian Maunder winning on a countback with 34 points.

Down the line balls went to Glenn Vandelight (35), Shane Dwyer (35), Peter Newton (34), Allan Logan (34), and Nicholas Rowe (34). Nearest the pins went to Duart Perrin 5th, Glenn Vanderlight 10th and Kevin O’Brien 14th.

Saturday saw the predicted rain stay away and with the course drying out and getting firmer this showed in the scores.

A total of 94 players teed it up with 15 players shooting their handicap or better. Kevin Johnson led Division 1 with 40 points, Philip Beruldsen top scored for the day and won Division 2 with 41 points. Division 3 saw John Wise’s 37 points take out that grade.

Down the line balls went to Cameron Miller (40), Peter Morris (39), Kevin Thorpe (38), David Cavanagh (38), Craig Stevens (38), Brian Seers (37), Shaun Doak (37), David Sharpe (37) and John White (36).

Unfortunately the weather was not kind last Tuesday 16 November so ladies competition golf was not played.

Saturday 20 November brought finer conditions and the ladies played Stableford. Great to see Kay Feaver (17) back in form with a lovely 36 points to win the event. She was closely followed by Val Crow (31), Glenda Warren (23) and Shirley Roberts (11) all on 34 points.

Today is the first round of the Downtowner Cup which is a Stableford event to be run over seven weeks.
