GARFIELD GOLF

It was a week where we had a bit of everything with the temperature-gauge rising to the low thirties on Thursday with the humidity being particularly high.

Saturday was Monthly Medal day with a field size of 100 starters and the overall scoring reached a better-than-handicap standard.

Peter Fedorenko enjoyed his round with a score of net 66 giving him the medal on a count back from Ryan Stark.

Shane Male made it back-to-back A Grade scratch medal wins, this time with a three over score of 72. Dave Lawler has struck form with a B Grade scratch win of 82 good enough to get the victory.

Fedorenko won C Grade with his score of 86 off the stick whilst Greg Nicholls won the D Grade scratch event with a round of 94.

Just the 10 birdies were scored for the day on the par threes…and all to individual players.

Matt Skinner had a fine round of 75 off the stick which gave him the 67 net resulting in a handicap A Grade win.

Stark and Fedorenko won their respective handicap grades whilst Barrie Cousin chimed in with a fine round of net 67 to win the D Grade handicap event. A final score of net 70 was required to win a ball down the line.

On Thursday a field of 51 faced the starter with very humid conditions presenting. Phil Williams broke a long run of outs to win the A Grade event with a score of 38 defeating Kevin Whitmore and Bob Calderara by the one point.

Terry McLaughlin scored the B Grade win on a count back from Peter King , also with a score of 38 points, and to give that number a third win on 38 points was John Gay with a C Grade winning score defeating Harry Huyskens and George Fatouros by the four points.

A final score of 34 points or better was required to get a ball down the line.

Jeanette Mitchell starred for the ladies by scoring a brilliant net 62 to taste success for Saturday’s ladies stroke event.

Thursday’s twilight event was virtually a washout with just the seven players completing their round of which Michael Payroli did best with a fine score of 21 points for the nine holes. The annual Top Gun event is now up and running with entries now open for this popular competition. See the starter before your round to complete entry.
