Officer axes Koop

Doug Koop has coached his last game at Officer. 171050

The Officer Football Club has thrown the axe over well-respected coach Doug Koop.

Koop coached the Roos for six years after successful stints with a number of south east clubs.

The Roos were 0-3 when Koop was sacked, leaving Anthony Bernardo and Troy Tharle to interim coach for the remainder of the year.

Koop led Officer to the finals in the most recent full season back in 2019 and was well-poised to do the same in 2021, holding a 6-3 record before community sport was cancelled due to Covid lockdown.

The decorated senior coach’s career was highlighted by a terrific succession of seasons at the Cranbourne Football Club.

Officer Football Club has been contacted for comment.

More to come.
