GARFIELD GOLF

It was a great day weather wise on Saturday with plenty of winter sunshine around for the day’s competition of single stableford which attracted a good size field for this time of the year of 101 starters.

The overall scoring was of a good standard with the winners playing to or better than their handicaps.

Lift clean and place was in play for the week so there were no excuses for not scoring well.

Best in for the day and with a very clear margin was Jason Howlett with a great score of 43 points to get the D Grade win over Graeme Sparkes.

Stephen Murray got the A Grade decision with a better than handicap result of 39 points to defeat Carl Gilbert by two points.

The B Grade event was a three-way count back with a score of 36 points being achieved by Sam Collins, Peter Fedorenko and Greg Noonan.

Collins got the judges nod.

Martin Dinsdale won the C Grade event with a great round of 39 points defeating Mark Gould by just one point.

Birdies were hard to come by with a total of just eight being scored for the day on the par threes.

A final score of 33 points or better was needed to get a ball down the line.

An excellent field of 35 came out for a round on Monday with an in form Leo De Jager getting the A Grade win over John Blair with a handicap round of 36 points. A score of 33 points got a ball down the line.

A good-sized winter field of 46 came out on Thursday with a red hot Jim Accettura getting the A Grade win from another very much in form Phil Williams.

Charlie Hardy, yet another regular Thursday player, got the B Grade win over George Gray.

Once again a score of 33 points got a ball down the line.

Damien Needham scored the two nearest the pins on the 11th and 14th par-three holes.

Three out of the four semi finals of the 2022 4BBB Par Championships were played on Saturday with the results as per below.
