Deft touch for Davies at Drouin

Another strong field of 132 players contested the Stableford event at Drouin Golf and Country Club on Saturday.

A Grade saw great scoring with winner Ricky Davies shooting 72 off the stick to win with 40 points.

Runner up Mark Allen also had a great round shooting three under the card for his 37 points.

Kelly Belcher led the way in B Grade scoring 36 points while Paul Timewell narrowly finished runner up with 35 points on a countback.

In C Grade it was David Lillis who won with an impressive 38 points, while Pete Daniel finished runner up on a countback with 33 points.

It was a tie at the top of D Grade with Cameron Payne and Dave Axford both scoring 35 points.

A strong back nine of 22 points saw Cameron take the victory while Dave came in runners up.

The top three scores for the day all came in E Grade.

Taurai Muzorori had a fantastic round, scoring 46 points to claim the win, while David Bennett finished runner up on a countback scoring 43 points and also claimed the super six with 18 points.

Down the lines went to James Wilcock 43, Paul Matthews, Gleen Rees, John Hutcheon, David Woods and Fred Roknic 35, Kevin Johnson 34, Ben Smith, Jordy Wyatt, Peter Steer, Geoff Percival and Glen Ward 33, and Matt Guy, Daniel Butler, Rick DeJong, Nick Rowe, Michael Smith and Stuart Low with 32 points.

Nearest the pins went to 5th Dave Axford (Commercial Hotel), 8th Matt Guy (Sharkey’s Barbershop), 10th Ben Kelleher and 14th Luke Hughes (Pro Pin).

Target Hole winner on the 4th hole was Mark Jensen-Schmidt.

A field of 85 players contested the mid-week Stableford competition on Wednesday last week.

It was an extremely close contest in A Grade, with the countback coming down to the last three holes.

Rob McCrae was the eventual winner over Mick Whitford with both players scoring 36 points.

John Roach led B Grade with 35 points, while Rick DeJonge was runner up with 34 points.

The winner of C Grade and the best score of the day went to Graham English who scored 38 points.

John Gidley was the runner up with 35 points on a countback, and the Super Six prize went to Ross Tomlinson with 14 points.

Down the lines went to Alex Slaughter and Don Stewart 35, Ross Tomlinson, John Banfield, Bob Naismith and Cameron Snell 34, and to Graham Austin, William Nutton, Neil Wyatt, Shane Dwyer, Laurie Pyle and Warren Cook with 33 points.

Nearest the pins went to 5th Rob McCrae, 8th Neil Wyatt, 10th Jock Granger and 14th Jim Bransgrove.

The Stableford Medley on Sunday was won by Jack McConville with 36 points, while Glenn Rees won a ball down the line with 35 points.

Premier League

The autumn version of the Premier League heads into the finals this Saturday.

Raging Balls finished two games clear on top and will play fourth placed Team 14.

The other semi-final sees Fairways To Heaven takes on The Cream.

Both winning teams will face each other in the final the following week.

Upcoming Competitions are Stableford tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday.


Drouin Ladies competed in the 2024 Foursomes Championships on Tuesday May 14.

The Foursomes Champions for 2024 are Sharon Rippon (14) and Kay Feaver (14) with a 27-Hole Scratch score of 145.

The Foursomes 27-Hole Handicap winners are Karen Adams (28) and Michelle Fairlie (26) with a nett score of 111.5.

The Foursomes 18-Hole Handicap winners are Maryanne Batson (44) and Judy Bibby (31) with a nett score of 75.

Down the line balls for the 18-Hole event went to Leanne Pollard and Sue Hatfield 75.5, and Lorna Hoskins and Marg Murray 76.5.

Saturday May 18 was an Individual Stableford event for the Ladies.

The winner was Deb Daniel (27) with 30 points and runner up was Margaret Payne (37) with 29 points on a countback.

This week is an Individual Stableford event, followed by the Anthony Bambridge 4BBB on Tuesday May 28.

This then brings us to the June Monthly Medal on June 4.
