HE WAS on the boil in the recent Nightingale Matchplay and that was the case again for Leigh Boyle at the Cardinia Beaconhills Golf Links on Saturday.
Boyle was in a group of 115 golfers who took to the course in fine, but windy conditions, for the July monthly medal.
Boyle (10) continued his fine form to take out A Grade with a score of +5.
The B Grade and monthly medal winner was Riley Stevens, a junior member who had a great round, scoring +6 off a handicap of 18.
And the junior domination didn’t stop there: the C Grade winner was Luke Whitworth (23), scoring +3. Sunday’s par competition was taken out by Geoff Styles (15), with a score of +2.
Meanwhile, the midweek stableford saw Ian Simpson (28) win with a score of 41 points, with Peter Brown (18) taking out the runners-up prize on a countback with 40 points.
The women played the first round of their foursomes championship, with Heather Hamilton (19) and Phyliss Woods (22) leading the field after shooting 95 gross for a nett score of 74.5.
Libby Michel hit the shot of the day on the 15th to win the nearest-the-pin prize.
It’s school holidays and the juniors are making their mark. On Thursday, Jordan Denereaz (11) won A Grade with 39 points on a countback. Arthur Bailey (19) won B Grade, with 43 points.
Club members who travelled to Horsham for the annual weekend trip had a great time – on and off the course.
