A new exhibition at the Cardinia Cultural Centre is illustrating the journey from ignition to recovery in the communities impacted by the 2019 Bunyip Complex Fires.

Cardinia Shire Council’s Emerging From Fire exhibition will explore the lasting impacts of the devastating bushfire, which affected the communities of Tynong North, Garfield North, Bunyip North and Tonimbuk.

Having come through the adversity of the fires, the exhibition is an opportunity to reflect on the community’s resilience, as together we look ahead to the future in these special parts of the shire.

All photographs in this exhibition have been taken by community members and first responders, showing the unique perspective of the fire’s response, relief and recovery efforts.

News coverage by The Gazette at the time will also feature heavily in the exhibition.

The exhibition was developed and curated in partnership with the Community Recovery Committee and will run from Friday 5 August to Sunday 11 September.

More in next week’s paper.
