Q and A with Golden Guitar winner Andrew Swift

Andrew Swift, of Berwick, won the Golden Guitar for Male Artist of the Year.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself!

I am Disney approved. They had to approve me before I performed at House of Blues at Downtown Disney.

What are you most passionate about?

My career, I’m so grateful that I get to tour the country doing what I love.

What do you love about country music?

I love the way that the songs connect with the fans and the family/community feeling in the Australian country scene.

What would your last meal be?

Well, if I’m not going to be eating for a while, a big pasta or a southern style BBQ.

What was your most memorable moment?

Making the front cover of the Berwick-Pakenham Gazette last week.

What was your favourite subject in school?

Japanese. I even organised for myself to attend school in Japan for three weeks when I was 14.

What event past or present would you like to witness?

I would have loved to have been there when Johnny Cash played Folsom Prison, as a guest, not an inmate.

Which six dinner guests, dead or alive, would you invite to dinner?

My girlfriend Simone, Bert Kreischer, Lainey Wilson, Brooke McClymont, Chris Stapleton, and my mate Tom.

What are you currently listening to/watching or reading?

I’m reading Give Your Heart To The Hawks by Win Blevins.

How would you describe your fashion sense?

Non existent? Kinda lumberjack-esque but with nicer boots. There’s probably a better word for it.

Have you had a pet that has made an impact on your life?

Every pet has had an impact on my life, I’m an animal lover. Our dog Nancy is my right hand gal though.

If you had to compete on MasterChef, what dish would you cook?

I would be out in the first round, but I’d give it a crack with a homemade woodfired pizza.

Where is your dream holiday destination?

If I’m really going for a holiday and don’t have to perform, anywhere tropical is a win for me.

What were you like as a kid?

Shorter than I am now, less facial hair, less tattoos yet somehow more mature than I am now. Go figure.

What is your favourite colour and why?

I don’t know that I have a favourite colour but I know what it’s not… sad beige.

What was your first job?

Answering the phone at Beaconsfield Fish and Chips. Sorry if I got your order wrong.

What are the three most used apps on your phone?

Instagram, Gmail and Facebook, I’m all business baby.

What’s one question you have never been able to get the answer to?

Why is the colour of my beard red?
