Don’t miss

LOCALS studying agriculture, horticulture or local government are being urged not to miss out on the opportunity to apply for financial assistance.
Applications are open until 21 February for the annual P.B. Ronald Memorial Trust Award, awarded to former or current Cardinia residents studying these subjects.
Last year, Stephanie Pankhurst, Melissa Crutchfield, Aaron Cockram, Nick Newham, Daniel Noonan, Richard Kruithof, and Brendan Short received the 2008 bursaries at the trust’s annual dinner on 18 March.
What they studied varied from agricultural science, to dairy farming and arbour culturing.
The trust, now in its 18th year, perpetuates the memory of former shire president Peter Ronald and assists young people studying agriculture, horticulture and local government.
It has provided financial assistance for nearly 70 local people since it was established.
The trust’s annual dinner is attended by representatives of the Pakenham Racing Club, the Rotary Club of Pakenham and the Pakenham and District Agricultural and Horticultural Society, which have provided support since the trust was formed in 1991.
Applications for financial assistance must be sent with an accompanying letter outlining the individual’s studies and how the trust would assist them.
Applicants will then be required to attend an interview. Deadline for applications is 21 February.
