Teams on a roll

WELL what a difference a week makes in bowls with this week marking one of the best weeks the Pakenham Bowls Club has had on the Pennant arena. Three out of the four sides had great victories including classic backs to the wall win by the number one side.
Pakenham (1) went to Mitcham to play one of the best sides in the division and with last minute changes being made to the team due to illness, it wasn’t promising to be a great day. But nobody told Pakenham it was the underdog and after a hot dry day the Lions came out victors with a four shot win and 14 points.
A real gutsy effort team, well done all of you.
Pakenham (2) could well take a leaf out of the top side’s book. After a lacklustre start things just got worse with Clayton (3) seeming to have their bowls on a string as they trounced the home side by 29 shots, with all rinks being beaten. No points this week, but the team will bounce back next week and taste victory again.
Pakenham (3) went all the way to Bentleigh and had a very exciting win over the home side getting up by only two shots, getting three winning rinks and 16 points. It was a very tight game and an enormous win for this hard-working side.
Pakenham (4) continued the winning trend with a 15 shot win over Cranbourne (6) on the “dreaded carpet” green. With the players adapting to these new conditions it only proves that it was a good decision to go with this surface. Well done team and a great 16 points into your kitty.
Barefoot bowls is on again this and every Friday, come along for a bowl and a snag and cooling ale or two.
