We object

REGARDING my letter, “Ad hoc process”, (Gazette 20/11) two sentences were deleted. Unfortunately these contained the main reasons for our public meeting’s rejection of council’s claim to have consulted properly with the community.
Casey Council’s Strategic Development
Manager claims that these two forums were held to give people the opportunity to have their say on “how they value the area and how they consider it should be planned to maintain its character”.
But they refused to take any questions or provide answers about the proposed future development in our area. Apart from the landscapes, no other values of the Casey Foothills were open for discussion.
This is not what we the Harkaway residents call acceptable community consultation. Some 140 people attended our public meeting on a wet and cold night and agreed with us in this regard.
Phil Wild,
Harkaway.
