Dance in festive mood

Getting ready to hula. There will be something for everyone at this year's festival.

TIME to get out and move to the rhythms – Dancing Ground Festival is back and coming to Gilwell Park at Gembrook from 21-24 February.
The festival, now being held for the fifth time, aims to inspire the community through dance and movement and nuture people to dance with freedom within a judgement-free and inclusive environment.
Dancing Ground director River Jade Satya said the event will feature a diverse line-up of dance and movement workshops.
“There is a focus on community and well-being,” he said.
“It’s drug and alcohol free, fully catered and family friendly”.
River said the not-for-profit event offered three delicious and mostly organic vegetarian meals each day, plus chai and snacks.
There is a dedicated kids’ space and children’s workshops as well as evening entertainment for all that includes DJs, bands, a cabaret show and a movie night.
He said the weekend program was jam-packed with talented facilitators creating a supportive environment that is accessible to people of all levels of dance ability.
The festival offers a unique opportunity to experience a variety of dance in a picturesque forest setting just one hour out of Melbourne.
Participants can expect to see a diverse range of dance styles in the mix including swing, hip-hop, West African, contemporary, salsa, five rhythms (to name just a few) as well as complementary workshops such as yoga, hula-hooping, and African drumming.
Weekend passes to the festival include access to all workshops, full vegetarian catering and camping.
