Whistle has perfect pitch

A NEAR full house greeted Saturday night’s premier of Cardinia Performing Arts Company’s production of Whistle Down the Wind.
The Andrew Lloyd Webber musical opened the 2014 season for the Cardinia Cultural Centre with the audience enjoying every moment of the classic show.
This is the first time Lloyd Webber’s masterpiece has been produced in Victoria, with director Lee Geraghty taking a big gamble with operatic theatre.
But the punt paid a huge dividend with the audience lapping up every minute of the lavish production.
With an almost full house, the cast members were clearly primed for the performances of their lives, with Mitchell Stewart as The Man leading the players with a powerful, perfectly pitched effort.
Another stand-out performance included the children’s chorus, which sang with gusto and character.
Set in Louisiana, Whistle Down the Wind revolves around Swallow, a 15-year-old girl who discovers a mysterious man hiding in her barn.
Swallow and the town’s other children vow to protect the stranger from the outside world and the adults who want to bring the fugitive to justice.
This is a show for the whole family that should be not be missed by lovers of musical theatre.
