IT'S baaaack. Grant Denyer hosts Family Feud.

Family Feud
Channel Ten
6pm weekdays
WE SURVEYED 100 people (OK, about three or four of us around the office) and found that not many were going to watch the new Family Feud, althought all of us have actually been talking about it!
But why? Well, the survey revealed that this was an iconic program that we all grew up with, at least it’s not another reality program, it’s a bit of fun and Channel Ten has been hyping it the max.
Actually, so much so that, apparently, they’ve had more than 8.5 million families apply to go on.
Of course, it is probably one of the Top Five answers to the question “what program are you not going to watch” – along with another “new” Channel Ten program The Bachelor which was heavily promoted during the first episode of Family Feud.
With these shows leading the way, and the news that they are bringing out Rove to co-host The Project (what the!) it’s hard to believe that the Channel Ten executives are actually serious about returning the network to its glory days (did it have glory days?).
I suppose the nice thing is that Ten hasn’t tampered with the tried and true formula this is no Battle Star Reboot – no updating this is the same show!
Two families – several rounds of silliness and a chance to win $10,000 at the end of the night or a lot more for those who make it through a few days, a family huddle everytime the camera flicks to the family not in play (I am rolling my eyes right now, believe me!) and a super annoying host! And, let’s face it – they have at least found the perfect man for the job.
In fact, he might just be the best yet in the annoying stakes.
Mind you he has big shoes to fill in Tony Barber, Daryl Sommers, John Deeks and even the beloved Bert Newton.
But the man he really has to beat is Rob Brough – and after settling down to watch his first episode which featured Denyer’s usual “Jack Russell” on steroids routine (amped up to 11 for this show), moving around the set in a blur of the brightest red shirt and blue suit in the history of television – I’ve got to say he might just do it.
But, hey, it’s a bit of fun, right?
A chance to show our kids what we use to cringe at when we were their age without having to shell out the cash for pay TV.
