THE INTERNATIONAL award-winning film Legally Blonde was brought to life by the Cardinia Performing Arts Company last Saturday in what was a spectacular first show.
Months of preparation and rehearsals paid off last week when a talented cast stepped onto the stage for the first of eight performances.
Snaps to Elise Cavallo who stole the thunder from Reece Witherspoon with her impressive performance as main character, Elle Woods.
Brilliant costumes and stage sets added to the professionalism of the musical and it could have been easy to forget we were sitting in the Cardinia Cultural Centre, rather than the Regent Theatre.
Genya Mik nearly stole the show when she skipped onto the stage as Brooke Wyndham; a fitness instructor wrongly accused of murdering her husband.
Whipped into shape, the opening act of the second part had the audience bouncing in their seats and eager to throw away the choc-top in readiness for a few sit-ups.
The cast kept viewers entertained for every second during the show, as we followed Elle To Harvard in her quest to regain the love of her former partner, Warner.
The dumb blonde’s life took a huge turn when Emmett Forrest, played by Peter Garratt, stepped into her life and showed her what it truly meant to strive for something worth fighting for.
However nobody pleased the crowd more than the dynamic duo that we came across in the local salon.
When Elle befriended Paulette Bellafonte, played fantastically by Frankie Ros, we grew to love the hairdresser and followed her in her journey to take back her one true love, dog Rufus.
However by this time, Paulette had learnt how to bend and snap, and caught the attention of Kyle, a local deliveryman who attracted a loud applause upon every entrance and exit from the stage.
If the cast can keep up the standard of performance for all eight shows that they displayed on Saturday night, tickets will run out the door.
Congratulations to director Lee Geraghty and her production team for a well-produced musical that kept viewers wide-eyed for the entire time.
