Buyers enjoy choice and reduced prices

There were approximately 1100 export and 900 young cattle penned representing an increase of 300 head week-on-week.
There was an almost full field of buyers present and operating in a cheaper market in places.
Quality was generally good with a good selection of grown steers and bullocks and a much larger offering of heavy weight vealers suited to butcher orders.
The heavy calves to butchers sold firm.
Yearling trade steers sold firm while the medium weight feeder lines eased five cents per kilogram.
Yearling heifers to the trade slipped eight cents to 14 cents for most while the limited selection of c muscle heifers held close to firm.
The 650 grown steers and bullocks eased three cents seven cents.
Heavy weight Friesian manufacturing steers were off two cents while the crossbred portion was up to six cents cheaper.
Heavy weight vealers suited to butcher orders sold from 280 cents to 323 cents.
Yearling trade steers made between 283 cents and 330 cents.
Yearling heifers to the trade sold between 264 cents and 300 cents.
Medium weight feeder steers made from 275 cents to 305 cents.
Grown steers sold from 269 cents to 305 cents.
Bullocks made between 269 cents and 299 cents.
Heavy weight Friesian manufacturing steers sold between 234 cents and 260 cents with the crossbred portion between 244 cents and 287 cents.
