Julia’s diamonds in the rough

Kerry O'Brien and Julia Zemiro.

JULIA Zemiro’s Home Delivery,
Wednesdays (from 3 Feb), 8pm

THE little show that could – Julia Zemiro’s Home Delivery – returns to the ABC next week.
The new series is probably Julia’s most diverse yet.
This year our intrepid host travels around Australia to take some of her favourite people down memory lane.
So who is joining her on the road for this 10-part series?
This time there will be well-known faces from the worlds of comedy, journalism, entertainment, arts and sport.
And as always there is plenty to learn about people you think you know a lot about.
There are lots of candid and quite intimate interviews again as Julia gets her guests to reveal bits of their life story in the places that these things actually happened.
First cab off the rank this season is respected journalist and king of the gingers – Kerry O’Brien.
If you had a chance to watch Kerry’s Who Do You Think You Are then you know he has had a very interesting past. If not, then this will prove extra revealing.
Julia and Kerry revisit the suburbs of Brisbane that he grew up in and he talks about about his difficult and troubled relationship with the Brothers at St Laurence’s College.
This is another of those really interesting and heart-warming if not very revealing looks into the past to see just how Kerry became the journo he was.
Also on this year’s list are Rebel Wilson, Glenn McGrath, Geoffrey Robertson, artist Ben Quilty, TV stalwart Kerri-Anne Kennerley, Logie Award winning actress Miranda Tapsell and comedians Greig Pickhaver (HG Nelson) and Denise Scott.
There is something just a bit fun and a lot special about this little show and it’s nice that in this era of budget cut-backs that we get to enjoy another series.
Zemiro is a clever and yet gentle interviewer and the subjects are allowed to shine through.
Thank goodness for this little gem!
