There were approximately 370 export and 350 young cattle penned representing an increase of 200 head week-on-week at Pakenham’s Victorian Livestock Exchange.
The usual buying group was present and operating in a cheaper market.
Quality improved with a larger proportion of prime cattle on offer including a larger selection of grown steers and bullocks and only a handful of vealers.
The limited selection of light weight vealers improved a little.
Yearling trade cattle eased five cents 10 cents per kilogram.
Grown steers and bullocks sold eight cents to 12 cents cheaper for the larger selection. Heavy weight grown heifers eased to 12 cents.
The handful of vealers sold from 328 cents to 339 cents, yearling trade steers made between 276 cents and 345 cents, yearling heifers to the trade sold between 262 cents and 322 cents, grown steers made from 263 cents to 289 cents, bullocks sold from 273 cents to 290 cents, and heavy weight grown heifers showing good finish made between 253 cents and 276 cents.
