A woman in her late teens has been airlifted to The Alfred hospital in a stable condition with leg injuries following a crash in Pakenham.

Emergency services were called to Racecourse Road, just after 8pm on Wednesday 6 November but were forced to bring in the SES to release a trapped patient.

Pakenham SES and Nar Nar Goon CFA conducted a ‘roof flap’ rescue by removing the doors and roof of one vehicle, eventually freeing the driver at 9.10pm.

Respondents cut the roof and folded it forward over the front of the car which allowed the patient to be removed through the back, keeping the neck and spine straight to prevent further injury.

A man, believed to be in his 30s was taken to Dandenong Hospital in a stable condition with minor injuries.

A spokesperson from Cardinia Highway Patrol couldn’t provide further information about the nature of the crash at this stage.

It’s unknown if speed, alcohol or drugs were factors in the collision.
