Farmers support farm

DESPITE VicRoads claims the Garfield Berry Farm signs cause road accidents local farmers have thrown their support behind the local business.
Farmers from as far away as Shepparton have written letters of support, saying without small markets like the Garfield Berry Farm growers from around the state could be badly affected.
Anthony Laverso said he was disgusted to hear what was happening to Maria’s and Francesca’s business with all their signage removed by VicRoads.
“It’s thanks to Garfield Berry Farm and Produce Market that we don’t make a total loss,” he said.
“The supermarkets control 80 per cent of where our produce can be sold to, the major supermarkets have made growing produce a nightmare.”
Drouin business, Versteden’s Egg Farm has also put forward its support for the berry farm.
Michael Versteden said it was with the utmost annoyance that they found small business constantly facing what they saw as persecution via newly interpreted rules and regulations.
