Cardinia Road will close northbound between Henry Road and Shearwater Drive from 6am on Saturday 18 to 6am Monday 20 July, as crews install safety screens on the new road bridge.

The Department of Transport advises that motorists detour via Bridge Street, Station Street, Henry Road, Princes Highway and Princes Freeway, adding that southbound lanes will remain open.

Buses will replace trains between Dandenong and Pakenham on the Pakenham line from first train Saturday 18 July to 7.30pm Sunday 19 July. Buses will also replace trains between Caulfield and Pakenham from 7.30pm to the last train on Sunday 19 July.

Meanwhile, coaches will replace trains on the Traralgon and Bairnsdale lines between Pakenham and Southern Cross Station on the evening of Friday 17 July and all day Saturday and Sunday. Passengers can connect with trains between Pakenham and Traralgon/Bairnsdale.

Commuters should allow 60 minutes extra travel time.

The Cardinia Road, Pakenham level crossing will be removed by building a road bridge. It’s one of 17 level crossings to go on the Pakenham line. Removing the level crossing will improve traffic flow, provide the opportunity for more train services in the future and improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers.
