Kooweerup Secondary College’s esteemed marching band has been gearing up for the annual Anzac Day march in Melbourne on Sunday.
The school band has led the 39th Battalion in the Swanston Street march since 1999 and didn’t even miss last year due to the pandemic.
“We had an online version last year and the 39th Battalion brought it out to their letterboxes and stood to attention with it played,“ musical director Claudia Barker said.
The band always plays “Sussex by the Sea,“ but haven’t had much time to practice because they were only notified on the last day of term one they would be marching.
Mrs Barker said this year was a much shorter march, beginning at Linlithgow Avenue rather than Flinders Street, to the Shrine of Remembrance.
