WARRAGUL AND DISTRICT CRICKET ASSOCIATION – Round 6 (day 1)

BUNYIP (9/263cc) mauled Yarragon in Warragul District Cricket Association Division-1 action on Saturday via a trio of top-order half-centurions.
Playing like a side well above their current station on the WDCA ladder, with five straight losses to start the season, Bunyip’s Tyler McMillan (71) and Travis McNamara (50) kicked off proceedings with a 121-run opening partnership before McMillan succumbed LBW to change bowler Jesse Glover (1/36).
Not content to stop from there, Sam McMillan (50) joined the party to blast Bunyip through to a dominant position over the higher ranked Yarragon.
Ellinbank (94) was razed to the ground by a stellar bowling effort from Drouin’s Ishan Ratnayake (6/21) – who claimed his second five-wicket haul. In reply Drouin was ably led by David Sharpe (110) and Trevor Gardiner (39), while Drouin cycling champion Cyrus Monk (0) pedalled from the crease quickly after offering up a caught-and-bowled for a duck.
Western Park (177) is well placed against Hallora (1/9) following a belt-around fifty from Sam Batson (52).
Buln Buln sits in the driver’s seat against Neerim District (1/5) following an impressive 87-run lower-order partnership between Mitch Jolly (48) and Bryce Monahan (54). Aaron Fawcett (5/53) swept through the order to be the best for Neerim.
In Division 2, Drouin (9/218) is flying against Western Park as is Garfield-Tynong (9/226) against Warragul. Longwarry (105) has conceded first innings points to Iona (5/115) and Hallora (5/260) – guided by a Mark Phillips’ (101) ton – has screamed ahead against Jindivick.
Division 3 is a battle between first and third as Neerim District (0/7) is chasing Drouin (189) while Ellinbank (8/231) is well and truly ahead of Buln Buln. Western Park (208) is challenging Jindivick (1/34) and Bunyip (112) was skittled on the cheap by Yarragon (3/48).
