School cancer cash overflows

VCAL students at Berwick College have raised close to $5000 for the Cancer Council in preparation for the Casey Relay for Life at Akoonah Park this Friday.
As part of their Personal Development subject, students have planned and organised various fund-raising activities including selling chocolates, cooking a sausage sizzle, a car wash, a casual dress day and assisting with the wood chopping at the Berwick Show.
“It has been an amazing journey to be a part of,” the college’s Corinne Duhau said.
“Students commenced this project by researching cancer, treatment and prevention.
“They worked in teams to plan and organise their fund-raising.
“As a class, we shared stories about cancer and loved ones lost. Students have supported each other with all tasks associated with our participation in this 24-hour event.
“It has been a rewarding experience to witness students’ dedication and devotion to this worthy cause.
“They have willingly given up their time and have worked hard to raise funds.
Relay For Life in Berwick begins this Friday at 5.45pm.
